Dear Local Emergency Manager:
Significant progress has been made in recent years in educating Members of Congress on the importance of building and maintaining strong emergency management programs at the local level, as well as the role of funding, particularly Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) funding, in building such programs.
This year, as in recent years, we have been asked by Members of Congress on key committees to seek information from local government emergency managers about the role and importance of EMPG funds and the impact of the economic downturn on their jurisdictions.
To continue increasing awareness of the importance of local emergency management programs on Capitol Hill, we have to be able to show Congress what they are getting for their EMPG money and what could be accomplished with increased funding. Therefore, IAEM-USA Government Affairs Committee hopes that you will take a few minutes to complete a survey on behalf of your jurisdiction at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/92KCZKD.
We are requesting that the survey be completed by March 3, 2010. Specific information on what you have been able to accomplish because of EMPG will be particularly helpful.
It is expected to take approximately 30 minutes for you to complete the survey. Should you need to exit the survey prior to completing it, you can return to your survey from the same computer any time prior to March 3 to finish by following the link provided above.
Please send an email to comments@IAEM.com or call Jessica Jensen at 701-210-4293 if you encounter any technical issues or have questions. Thank you in advance for your participation.
